Carolina Serrano "Wo du dich selbst verloren hast"

Solo exhibition at St. Gertrud Church, Cologne

06.09. – 21.09. 2025

Inspired by a verse from the mystical poet Angelus Silesius, Carolina Serrano fills the central nave of St. Gertrud Church with 1200 identical concave elements – empty shells that refer to the idea of empty space. But this space is not merely empty: it is full of possibilities, a projection space for inner worlds, memories and silent presence. Thus, the seemingly uninhabited becomes inhabited space – a place that is larger than the object itself and invites us to lose ourselves inside ourselves.
